Hi guys, I'm back again for a weekend. We're in the start-up process now of our compression project, and I should be finished by the end of the month. Then I'll be a 'regular' vfb'er again. Looking forward to that.
Got a message from Tom Whiting last week, in answer to a question that I had for him. After explaining the co-op process and telling him that the 'payment' for the 'pluckers' was the stripped saddle, he remarked that that wasn't much for their efforts. He then offered a bag of assorted loose saddle hackles that happen as part of the trimming process, and said that these could be divided up and sent to the pluckers. I wrote him back and told him 'yes', for sure. (I'll also see about making this retroactive to the last swap.) If Tom agrees, I'll have him send the bag or bags to Byard for divvying up amongst the past pluckers and future pluckers (or a divvier-upper for a portion?), since he knows who they were. Dr. Tom has given me these bags in the past to give out sample hackles at the shows, and they are really full of many diverse color and size dry hackles. This should help Byard to get many plucking volunteers. Whachallthink? DonO P.S.
