Most of the web references for a Grey and Peacock omit the red wing. The fly is then red tail, peacock body, and grizzly hackle (most references show just a grizzly collar hackle rather than a full-body palmered hackle.).
Do you feel the red wing is essential in your successful experience? Do you palmer the grizzly or do you just have a few winds of hackle behind the head?

Can someone please suggest wet/nymph/bugger/streamer patterns that use grizzly saddle hackle? A recipe or online reference would be helpful. Proven effective flies would be a plus!
I need to tie up some flies for test purposes for the research project I am working on.
Thanks! Wes Wada Bend, Oregon
