When we were in Destin, FL two summers ago, my two sons took boogie boards out about 200 yards (ok, it looked like 200 yards) and dove for sand dollars. They brought some back that were the size of salad plates.

No, Birdie, you should have taken a little sack with you and collected all the sand dollars that were intact, (not broken). When we lived in Panama City, Fla in the late 60's, my kids we got a quarter apiece for them at the local beach curio shops. No telling what they're bringing now. Starfish take too long to dry out and they smell while doing it.

In England they are called spring tides and the weather normally changes to wet and windy. Hang on though its always wet and windy in any case.
On a more sensible aspect I have just returened from Florida and there was a full moon while I was there and the beach was literally covered in sand dollars and starfish in fact below the mid tide mark it was a job to walk without treading on any.( Jimmy I dont need you to say well you should have walked higher up the beach Ha Ha )
