What I have done is wipe a very thin coat of epoxy in the male end. This is just a very thin coat. Give the epoxy plenty of time to harden. After the Epoxy is hardened a day or two, roll the area in a strip if 240 sandpaper till you get a good fit between the male and female. Do this slowly and do a lot fitting as you go. Be sure the taper stays the same on the male. If you over taper the end, it will click and will work apart when casting. You can also glue the sand paper to a small flat board to keep it flat on the ferrule end. I find that just rolling it in a piece of the 240 works well if you are careful. I use a strip off a 240 plumbers roll
I have fixed several that way.

I have a two piece 8' 6" 6 wt that has sentimental vlaue to me. The problem is that the bottom part of the rod is a little to small to fill the top part of the ferrel.
Is there some way to fix this. If I cast very long with this the two pieces come apart. come apart. The rod belonged to a good friend who died and willed it to me.
I know superglue would do it, but then I would not get the rod apart.
