I am trying to talk him into doing the Sowbug next year.

Most of us that have been here for a while know and love DonO. He is truly a
great tyer, and I respect him also.

He has so much knowledge and shares it readily and so in depth that even
begining tyers can understand his directions.
I am the only one that cannot Rope Dub. I just can't get it no matter how
hard I try.
Maybe some day I will meet Don in person and ask for personal lessons.

Hey Alan you know what I mean, LOL

But let me say this,
I watched him tie a mouse at the show; he had 3 or 4 ladies
Standing around wanting or hoping he would give them the mouse,
every gent including me was standing around
wishing/hoping he would give one of them mouse,
No one wanted it to fish with because it was a peace of art.
Not tiring to build up his ego he has truly earned it. LOL
Did I say it correctly, may be I should just say he has earned my respect
and admiration.
I have learned that most if not all the people on the lists,
are some of the best tiers in the world.
They know who they are.
No! It is not me, I couldn't even carry there coffee. LOL

DonO I have seen your bobbins, they look home made, when you first see them you know this guy means business. You can tell he likes the larger handles for better grip. In my opinion those bobbins you are using are what you are about. Tough serious meant for a lot of tying.

Thanks for all if the input.
Next show I will go grab a Norbobbin from Norm and try it out during the
show.
Even if I don't like it, Dr. D, Buggs, or Veronica might.

How long does it take you to spool up new thread on a Nor-bobbin?

'bout a minute

Do you use a drill or Dremel tool to load it?

drill, battery-operated. The previous version of the Norbobbin came
with a spooling arbor, the present version spool can be clamped in a
drill chuck by itself.

Is it a pain to break the thread and re-set everything?

Nuisance. No resetting, just rethreading.

If one is not tying for speed, but just to relax, is the speed of the
NB
worth it?

Speed, no, convenience, yes.

Can you have 20 Nor-bobbin spools loaded up? Is that practical?

Yep. I have. I had a bunch of delrin spools made for me by the
workshop, when I was still in University. Spool switching was a
screwdriver job with the previous version, but is a no-brainer with the
current ones. Only problem with the current version is that the tension
is too low, you need to wrap the thread at least once around a bobbin
holder leg to get enough tension.
