I suppose I should leap in here; the Ekich automatic bobbin solves all
Don's problems. It is automatic and mounts all standard spools. Look for
illustrations in my new book, How to Choose & Use Fly-tying Thread. The
only drawback is that it's expensive. Drawbacks to Norm's bobbin go
beyond having to respool, one also messes up the flatness and tension
imparted by the original thread spooler. However, I still use
Materelli-style bobbins for all but true-rotary tying.
Cheers,
Paul
