I was thinking along those lines , but under my breath I was say that The fly store used cheap hooks when they tied up the fly. I have never broken a TMC, or a Gamakatsu hook. I started off using my forceps after one broke I stopped and went to the vice. It could have been the way I was holding them or something. They are all de-barbered now, why do they even put a barb on? Its a pain for me, now when I go buy hooks I look for the 100bl or what ever it is.

Maybe you're applying too much pressure with your vice, or you're bending the hook without realizing it. -Eddie >From: "Steve" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >Reply-To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >Subject: RE: [VFB] Another Crooked Creek episode Long >Date: Fri, 11 Jun 2004 19:27:07 -0700 > >Great story Tony. >I spent the day tying and smashing barbs. >I think I ruined five flies, that I had brought, >I don't know what I did wrong. >I used my vise to smash the barb. >Oh-well better here, than on the creek, >after I had tied it on huh. > >Steve Clark >Moreno Valley, Ca. >http://www.deepcreekflyfishers.org/ > >The only difference between a good day and a bad day is our attitude. > ><((((>`.`..`...>(((> >.`.><((((>`..`..`...><((((> > > > >-----Original Message----- >From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On >Behalf Of Tony Spezio >Sent: Friday, June 11, 2004 7:14 PM >To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >Subject: [VFB] Another Crooked Creek episode Long > > >Dean, my fishing partner came by to pick me up about 3:30, we headed for >the creek.
