I shoot all my photos with a Fuji FinePix 5700. It is a 3.2 megapixel camera with 10x optical zoom and the ability to add filters and such (this was a must for me -- i wanted a polorized filter for my lens). I know you can buy a whole package (camera, memory card, rechargeable batteries, tripod, 3 lens filters, macro lense, zoom lense, and a few other odds and ends) on ebay for around $430.

I really like this camera. My next camera is going to be a digital SLR camera, as I am really getting into taking fishing photos. On a full day fishing trip, I will shoot as many as 150 frames. I do not print any of my photos myself. I take them to Walgreen's and have the ones I want printed. I am extremely pleased at my fishing photos thus far. You can see some reduced photos at www.ozarkchronicles.com in the gallery section (be sure to only look at the 2004 photos -- as the ones taken in 2003 and prior were taken with a 1mp camera).

Subject: [VFB] Help! Buying a Digital Camera
Date: Sun, 13 Jun 2004 13:35:29 -0500

Hi Gang,

Jody is buying me a Digital Camera for Father's Day. I don't know "doodly squat about them", but I know we have some very knowledgeable members. To help you help me, here's what I want in a digital:

1. Ease of operation
2. Ease of hook-up to computer and uploading pics from camera.
3. Ability to take good quality close-up pics of flies, (like those Hans does for his site.)
4. Ability to take good quality pics of my "classic golf clubs". Buying, selling and collecting them is another hobby of mine. It is nice to be able to let someone see what a club looks like when they're
interested in purchasing one.
5. Picture storage and extra memory cards.

I'd appreciate your response. What brand and model number of digital camera do you use? What features does it have? - resolution, zoom, storage does it have. Why do you like it as opposed to other brands. ALSO - WHAT can I expect to pay for a model like yours? I know there are a lot of cheap digitals out there. I bought one several years ago and the pic quality was poor and it ate batteries, like you wouldn't believe.

Thanks for your help!

JIMMY D
