I have a Dimage 7i by Minolta.  Great for macros and some outdoor photography.  It is a 5 megapixel, 7x optical, 2x digital zoom.

Minolta and Konica recently merged the past year.  They currently offer the A2, the same basic camera, but with some antishake technology, better power usage, etc.  It is a good camera as well, and will handle a variety of situations.

Hello all,

I recently bought an Olympus Stylus 410.  A great digital camera, and is weatherproof.  I have taken some pictures and it works fine.  It is a 4.0 Mega pixel model.  It is a little pricey, but you can save a lot of money buying it over the internet.

I have a Fuji FinePix 2650 2.0 Megapixel camera that I got about 2 years ago
and rather like. If I got another I would get one that was more weather
resistant.

But my point in posting is to say that 2 Megapixels are plenty for most
people, unless you want to have giant posters, or do extreme zooming either
during the shots, or at home in editing.

2 megapixels is 2,000,000 pixels, just a little bigger than 1200x1600 which is
what some of the biggest monitors can display. My monitor is a 17" Trinitron,
that I run at 768x1024, or 0.79 megapixels, and that's pretty fine grained on
my 17". Now on my 19" at work, I run 1024x1280 or 1.3 megapixels. Again, this
is a nice fine grained image on that monitor.

And if you want to have images for the web, they are no where near this pixel
density due to the recommended size for fast loading graphics.

This is not to say you can't spend as much as you want for that super fine
grained camera, but will you use the power? I don't, many of my friends
don't, but my photography buddies do.

I'm just a snapshot guy these days, Well, maybe a little more, and 2
megapixels is plenty big enough for me.

the water more than
anyone else. "Brother," he would say, "there are no flying fish in Montana.
Out here, you can't
catch fish with your flies in the air."
