I do carry a whistle with me when I'm kayaking. I also have a hand held GPS/Radio. I don't see a lot of float tubes here. I personally wouldn't think it was safe in the salt. We don't see a lot of sharks but the boaters and jet skiers are nuts. I see more fishermen in kayaks. I kayak a lot. I'm looking at a Wilderness Tarpon rigged for fishing for my next boat. I stay out of the boat lanes as much as possible but I still get them passing me in the harbor and on the rivers at full throttle. Very few people with boating manners here. It may be a lack of education in boating safety. They completely ignore the no wake rules inside the harbor. That's tough when you're in a kayak I wouldn't want to be in a float tube. I skipped buying the Tarpon last week because they only had the steel blue color in stock and it doesn't show up on the water. Too dangerous here. Deb
