Vagn; I've been selling office furniture for almost 30 years and tying flys for many of those.  I can tell you that all the furniture I've ever seen for fly tying is often over-priced for its quality, not functional in one or more ways (1-height 2-leg room 3-storage...) and lacks choices and versatility.   My "perfect" desk is not for the living room but it serves me well in the finished basement.  It is a 30" deep by 60" wide by 27" high/turned into 29" high with casters B grade metal/laminate computer desk with a 48" wide by 48" high by 15" deep hutch.  The hutch has a back and two 16" high shelves with a divider in the center.  This allows me plenty of space to put all my plastic material drawers above the desk on the first shelf where I can reach it and the top shelf is used for plastic tubs of bulk materials while the very top of the hutch is for my collection of caps, memorabilia, ect.  But the most important part of my tying station is a multifunctional/adjustable/ergonomic chair to keep my posture right and my back comfortable.   My point is that you might be better off designing on paper what best serves your purpose and either having it built, build it yourself or enlist a few furniture sales people to find the closest thing to your design in the materials you are most comfortable with.  The one item you want is a roll top and that will be tough to find.  Sometimes there are unusual custom pieces at auctions but expect to visit more than a few to find a good desk that suits your needs.   Murf
