Nice post Denny, I also love my dogs and as I have tried to explain to some of my friends, you really have to put the time into doing a bit of training with them to see the full benefits. My Springer in trained to the whistle, voice and hand signals. We rescued a dog last year that is a mutt but has some terrier in him. He has proven very difficult to train but I have started to make some headway with him in the last month. I have to admit I am very impressed that you managed to train your JR. Did she have some hunting line in her gene pool?

I have had many dogs in my life and have trained dogs for others professionally. Ghia is without a doubt the most intelligent dog I have ever owned and trained. She is 12 inches high and 12 inched long and weighs 12 pounds but thinks she is over 300 pounds. Has absolutely no fear of anything or anyone. The JRT is not a dog for everyone. They are hard headed and need an owner that is like minded. Many JRT are not of the old time hunting dogs so one must be careful of what stock you get a pup from. I have had her since she was 8 weeks of age. She has raised 2 litters of very good pups. I chose to raise no more. She is the best of fishing companions. Never objects to anything I want to do or to eat. She is always game to do whatever Dad wants to do. She is both hand and voice control trained. So as far away as she can see me, she does respond to hand signals. She is my early warning system. Nothing comes on the property that she does not tell me about, now. Very protective on our property. Even the big guard dog (Kangal dog) is not afraid of her, but knows she is the boss. He is 32 inches tall at the shoulder and weighs 150 lbs. +. Everyone needs a dog but should take the time to either train or have them trained. Sorry for the length. Love my dogs. Denny [EMAIL PROTECTED] --- Incoming mail is certified Virus Free.
