Ray, I used to do that too till one day I pulled the fly and stretched 
the bead chain a bit. When I let go of the fly, no need to tell you how 
well flies can fly.
I now use the Micro wire clips  from Radio Shack, set in a board with 
holes drilled to hold them.

   I dry my flies on a long piece of beadchain, especially when I tie 
the bucktails (leadheads) for the shops. It keeps them from sliding 
into each other. You can pick up rolls of it in any craft shop, the 
plastic bead chain is good enough to hang flies from.
