IMHO the split thread technique is a faster method that produces much less bulk, so for smaller flies that's the method I prefer. And if you have the tool, why go back to the dubbing loop? As for the UNI 6/0, I've never tried that. UNI nylon 70 den. and the other threads in approx. 8/0 work fine for me.
Different strokes for different folks I guess?

The recommended thread that the Magic tool DVD has suggested is any thead that can be split easily. The Danville's works great. I also find that it you untwist the UNI thread 6/0 by a few reverse turns, that works great too.  In working with the Magic tool, I find that you can get great results just even using the 8/0 Uni thread but not splitting it and just putting the dubbing formed with the Magic tool in the dubbing loop. Can really see no difference between the split thread and the fine thread. Joyce
