I am having trouble, figuring out the deferens between a 1\0 or a # 1
1\0 is for the ocean a # 1 if fresh water.
So when someone tells me to use a # 6 I am thinking of a nymph hook.

Fresh water or salt, the hook sizes are fairly consistent.
Sizing from small to large...#6...#4...#2...#1...#1/0...#2/0...etc.
The only thing you might want to consider is using stainless steel hooks in the salt water.
