Mark, The original discussion was that aside from friends asking friends for prayers in a time of need, the vfb would not become a forum for religious or political topics.
One thing that makes the vfb so special is the family-like atmosphere. This has been generated by more than just fishing-related technical topics. Like so many have put it, the vfb is an extended family that we can go to in time of personal need, and most times that's just emotional or spiritual support. One of us having an operation is not fishing related, but it is of concern to us, being as close as we are. My friend is close to me, as my wife and his are best friends, and we've know them so long, they're like family to us. I'm stuck in my office and I got the bad news this morning via the phone. So I just wanted to lean on my friends a little, not promote a religious viewpoint. I'm sorry if you have to use the delete button more times than you planned. Denny needs support and others here are more than willing to give it. If it gets to be too much for what Byard envisions for not-on-topic conversations, he will say something.
