That is the same tool as the Knit Fixer I mentioned.

Sure, there a quite ubiquitous contraption. Mine actually came from a long needle (like a gudebrod splicing needle but with just a sharpened bevel at the end) which used to be sold over here as a bait needle to thread dead baitfish onto a line. Hook was then attached and pulled back into the fish. I cut the hook end of the needle with a dremel cutting disk and attached a home-turned handle.
