Thanks a bunch to Chris and Mark and Jimi for the advice!
Jimi ... I do have some red magnet wire here, although it may be a bit small for my first shot at a CJ...
So I took the other advice as well and ordered some UTC Ultra from Line's End this morning (payday yesterday, you know!)... so after that comes in, I'll know if my magnet wire is a go. It's stuff I had around from making a crystal radio, and I have a large spool of it.
Once I get the wire from Line's End, I'll take a shot at some motor rebuilding places around here... with all the swimming pools in Phoenix, there has to be a huge pile of dead motors out there, and guys rebuilding them!
