Depends on what size copper john you are tying. I have selections of wire
from #18 to #62 magnet wire, all solid single wire. Some copper, some
colored, (still wanting to get some chartreuse wire). If you like and want
to pay the postage, I can send you a selection that you can try, save a
piece of it and go to a motor rewind shop to get the same size, or determine
the size and order some from Byard.

I tie CJ's from size 10 down to #20. I very the hooks from straight shank to
scud hooks as well. They are one of my go to flies, particularly as a
dropper with a scud below as a third dropper.
Hope this helps.
Jimi

I want to try my hand at a Copper John, and am wondering about the wire..

My local shop only had some very thin gold wire, and even if it had been
copper, it looked to be way too thin.

Lands End has UTC Ultra Wire in Copper and many other colors... is this what
I would use?

Thanks!

-Dave
