so keep the best two vices and sell the rest on ebay, use the money to have byard get you a real good vice like a renzetti, HMH, or dynaking then you will have a vice you can be content with.

Glad you had that experience Iain. I just finished tying on mine for the last three hours. I use it exclusively at home because it's the best vise i have overall and because i like the things i like about it, over and above the things i don't. In other words, i deal with it. I let my wife have the other large, top of the line, whatever, vise we have, (the Japanese Arcadia) at the apt. in Manhattan. And also because she needs good light and magnification as well, and that one will hold our McKenzi system. We have about 10 vises and yet i've never found one that i really love in every way. Maybe i'm just fickle, lol. Sometimes i just like using my Regal knock-off......Simplicity. BTW, the Regal rep. was at the I.F.T.S. show in Somerset last month and he was showing the new Regal with the stainless steel jaws. Pretty nice actually. If you don't need "True" rotary, you can't go wrong with a simple Regal. mark

Mark
i borrowed a dingo MK 1 for a few weeks and used it to tie large sea flies for pollock. the one i used was great, couldnt fault it.

Iain, don't even let me get started on the Dingo. I have one, and it's been NOTHING but serious headaches from day 1. First of all, the jaws chiped, both sets. Second of all the bobbing cradle holder was maching backwards/sideways or whatever the hgell you want to call it and so when you put the bobbin craddle in the craddle holder, it points only straight up or down, not out to one side. And the worst thing of all is that hooks slip no matter what i do to keep that from happening. I have NEVER once got a hook to stay in and not slip. THE single mst important thing in a vise is hook holding power, and you can forget about it. Maybe mine was a reject, or just a lemmon, but i tell you for THAt kind of money, (which is WAY serious) it ought to be the best vise on the market, BUT! Put it outta your mind. mark.....i'm still kicking myself in the ass for not spending that money on a Law.
