Another thought.... Call Ron Reinhold. I did when we started this mess and
he is very helpful. Nice guy. I also bought a few of his hooks to tuck
away. They are really nice!! I picked up the mirror hook just for kicks.
I do have some 7/0 and 8/0 - 3inch long streamer hooks coming and if you
want a few of those to play with let me know. They are bronze so you would
need to repaint them also. Iain Short finds some pretty amazing hooks over
there he may be able to help you out also. I will ask John if he has any
contacts for the wire.
Have fun!

Have you looked at piano wire? I remember reading that somewhere but I
don't know how good it is. I'll ask around. We have just been using old
hooks also and some modern ones. I think Roger has been using hooks also.
It's much easier. How are you reheating the hooks to get them hard again?
John O'Meara has been sending ours out somewhere he doesn't even have the
right equipment at the metal shop he owns. I've gotten up to 7/0's off ebay
and had John rework them. They were for originally for snelling and some
were offset so he filed them down and reshaped them and then sent them out
to be annealed. You might want to exchange some emails with him. He and
Roger have been working on it for a little over a year now. They share
notes and may be able to help you. I missed you at IFTS! I hope
everything is going well in your new home. Will you be in Danbury in
January?
Warm Regards,
Deb
BTW, one of the things we discussed at our (CFTG) monthly meeting this Sat.
afternoon was/is what the heck were doing with our videos. The club bought a
digital video camera about two years ago and we have been tapaing all our
monthly programs and some other events as well. Looks like we may be putting
together a CD/DVD whatever or maybe two (who knows), and they will be
available to members, ONLY! So guys....anyone who would like to become a
member can do it through me. We have members in 14 states already, and a
totall of over 300 members. It's only $10 a year so it's not gonna strap
anyone. It's always been $10 and we do NOT plan to raise it. We've a had a
hard enough time trying to figure out how to spend our money every year as
it is. And we have to (a certain amount) in order to keep our non-profit
status. And we have to keep that in order to do our raffles. Vicious circle,
lol. Bottom line is we are always in the black, big time. With your
membership you already get a booklet we put together called Favorite
Rivers/Favorite Hatches. A collection of that data gained from the members.
It's pretty cool. It's more than just "that" info. We are also starting a
scholarship program and we will grant one to a high school graduate every
year starting in 2005. Lemme know. mark....
