   There's definitely midges that small.   4 or 5 years ago up on Pine Creek a group of us ran into some small white mayflies.  They were smaller than the size 32 Tiemco which we were able to compare them to.  When they were hatching it looked like a fine white snow rising off the river.  For a spade eye you would have to snell the hook on to your leader before tying the fly.  Varivas use to make a 10X leader that might do the trick.  As far as actually fishing them, I'm not sure how practical they are.  I've fished a couple of the size 32 Tiemcos, and managed to land a sunfish on one.  They're really not a whole lot of fun to fish.  Tough to see and if you do hook something tough to get out.
