I wondered about that myself.... I stick to my vest but my husband has a chest pack so full that I can spot him 1/2 mile away on the Cape fishing. I have no clue how he can get things from the back pocket.... Oh wait.. he has a water bag on the back with a tube that comes up front. Those are just plain disgusting. Sorry guys. I'll carry a water bottle. Anyone who has fished on the cape can probably conjure up a pretty good picture of him. I don't carry anything.... I'm the opposite. I'm not loaded down though. I don't know how you can enjoy a fishing trip when you're lugging things around like that. I can always count on him to have everything I need if I forget anything. :) Deb

I thought I would go to a chest pack last year. I was in a well known Outdoor store 8 hours from where I live and saw the chest packs. They looked like what I wanted and bought one. That was early in the year. When I first tried to use it, I found the zippered pockets were so tight that my regular fly box would hardley fit in the pocket. I got them in the pockets but when on the river, I tried to get them out, it was a real hassle. I can't get to the back pockets without removing the chest pack. After using it several times last season, I went back to my vest. This particular pack is totally a hassle, had I checked it out closer I would of noticed these things before I bought it. It was not a cheap chest pack either. I am not condemning chest packs, just posted this to let you know, CHECK it out real good for what you want to carry. Be sure it will fit in the pack without a hassle. I am looking into a different chest pack but unless I can try it on and see if it suits what I want to carry, I will not buy one. I learned from this experience. I will not post the name of the one I got, will give it off list if anyone is interested.. Tony
