It's a great way to carry a lot of water. I have one in my Backpack that carries about 2 liters of water, I'll easily go through that in a 5 hour hike. It's also extremely convienient to have the tube with the bite valve so you don't have to mess around to get a drink. As long as you clean it it's not discusting. Currently I carry a water filtration bottle while fishing. It allows me to get Cold water anytime I want. Jim
