FYI, there is another alternative, that is a new lens, Verisys, I believe,
that actually fits behind the lens of the eye, is implanted, and makes it so
your own eye can do the accomodation..much safer without the side effects of
Lasik (and I've seen some really nasty side effects..such as dry eye,
constant tearing, distorted vision in both far and near, just for starters).
I've also seen some good results..but remember, if the problem is that you
hate wearing glasses, your eyes will continue to age and with Lasik, you
only get about 4 years of no glasses. I'm currently working with three
people wh had it about 3 years ago and all of them are back wearing glasses
for their vision..one for distance, the others for reading and up close
