For the Fryingpan (a tailwater below Ruedi Dam), some of the standard flies are:
mysis shrimp patterns
midge pupa both in red and greyish-green (basically thread and a gold wire rib)
small pheasant tails
full range of Green Drake patterns nymph to adult
The Fryingpan has some of the most beautiful trout I have ever seen. They feed extensively off the mysis shrimp being blown out of the reservoir by the dam. That rich, high protein diet produces fish with brilliant coloration. I caught a 19" brook trout there that looked like an illuminated Christmas tree.
