Not as much as I like to, but I did get out for an hour or so on Saturday.  I had an errand to do in Media and decided to get there by way of Ridley Creek.  Pete's familiar with Ridley, but it's a stocked stream with a FFO stretch here in SE PA.  Timed my arrival for about lunch time and was able to get a parking spot.  Like any multi use park in an urban area, it gets a lot of use on a nice weekend day and parking can be a premium.  Rigged up, no waders, just the boot portion of an old pair of waders.  Walked up toward the lower bridge pool, stopped and fished some riffle water without any luck.  Finally, the two guys fishing the pool left and I moved in to take their place.  The bridge pool is the home of some decent size and very educated trout.  They've seen all the standard flies and may have been hooked a time or two. It's a good spot to get frustrated.  I'd decided on 7X tippet and tied on a Wissahickon Midge(it's on the VFB somewhere).  I got a couple of looks, and one that looked, then turned and followed the fly before taking it. It wasn't the first trout I hooked this year, but it was the first I landed, a nice 10 incher.  The trout were still rising to their invisible lunches, when 4 greenies swam by.  Largemouth bass to those who don't know. They looked to be about 12 inches in length.  If you want to distract me from fishing for trout, show me a bass.  Clipped the 7X and tied on a white beadhead, that I just received in a smallie swap.  If I put the trout down so what.  First cast, I had three or four trout try to nail the fly.  I worked the fly for about 15 minutes.  Caught a rock bass.  Hooked one trout briefly.  Hooked a bass which jumped about a foot out of the water and threw the hook.  Switched back to the midge to work the trout a little bit more before I left.  Didn't down size my tippet and all I got was follows and swirls.  Still a nice day.
