I think you would be much better off to use the WF3.  On my short rod I find the line  is very important (more than normal for me) to the cast.

  I have 3 different 5 wgts, shortest being 6',,,, love em all. Everyone from 9wgt down to the 4wgt. Had to try the 3wgt, but figured I could put a WF2F on the 3wgt also. I guess it depends on the wind conditions too.
