I just had to know. After my research it seems the Pacific sargassum is mainly rooted, a different variety from the Atlantic floating species which forms the infamous sargasso sea. So they do have sargasso algae in the sea of cortez.

"Species of Sargassum are found in many parts of the world. Marine Algae of California (Abbott and Hollenberg) shows some species that extend from California down to Baja California.

Subject: [VFB] Craft Fir

My wife did something yesterday that was very dangerous.   She turned me loose in place called The Salty Feather.  To a newbie fly tier, that was heaven.   I bought quite a few old back issues of magazines and I found out some of you guys on this list are famous.  I bought one of Tim Borski's videos and he uses "craft fir".  Is that something you can find at a fabric store and is all craft fir made from material that is good for fly tying?  Eric
