Gary, dye some panty hose yellow, (don't know why, but here in Florida it outperforms other colors) Attach a 4-6" piece to a hook. You can snap off the hook and just whip the nylon to the remaining hook shank. Cast in front and make jerky little strips as if you were throwing a "sluggo" type plastic. The material gets trapped in the teeth of the gar. We get them bigger here in Florida than those you are throwing at. I have used as big a rod as a 10 wt.. BTW, releasing them is a bear, but the fight is worth it. JG
