Muf,
You bring up two interesting points. The first - where are the
bugs going, followed by why aren't we using patterns to match the bugs
that are there? I've thought about your post and would like to remind
the list two things: 1)I used to be smart and 2)I'm an Idiot (I'm
reminded daily by the woman I live with).
GEE YOU TOO!!!!!!!!!!
I fall into the second and probably the fastest growing group - I tie
what works. Quick, easy ties. (clip)
Years ago I was a good tyer. I tied at a lot of the big shows. I am
now a tyer that ties what works with what materials that work. In my
old age, I am getting to be a "Lazy if I might use the word" tyer. I
just tie what I need for when I am getting on the water. I have been
tying for 60 years and have seen the changes from all natural to just
about all synthetic. Fish are still being caught by what you cast to
them. The stint I did in Commercial tying really took me away from
"real " tying. Now like you, I just tie what works, even it it is just
a Chili Pepper. The Pepper and Al's fly is about all I used this
season and caught about as many fish as I wanted.
I am starting to ramble, might be that I have been cooped up in the
house too long. LOL
