That is one UGLY fly. Whoa! Not to the fish mind you, which is my point. That fly looks like a creepy crawly bug my munchkins wouldn't touch, the litmus test of whether it looks real.

Then UGLY must be what catches fish, Did close to 500 fish on this fly this year. True a lot of them were Gills and several Carp long with some Smallmouths. Most were trout and I almost had forsaken the Chili Pepper for Al's fly this year.

Not the tie ain't bad but you can tell the tyer is a beginner in his first or second month at tying.

You have to tie them ugly if you want to catch fish. If you tie them too neat, the fish will know you are an "EXPERT" and will not touch the fly.

Now if this post don't get yer blood boilin Tony, you're about to cross over into the land of the soap opera. ;-)

Man, I crossed over a long time ago. BTW, That fly in the photo was a "used" fly. It had caught a bunch of fish. It was the only one I had to take some photos so I could send them to a friend on the list last spring.

Actually, we've hit this point many times. But after a few cordial discussions today in a few shops I happened by, seems too many folks are keen on what appeales to their eye, not the fish. Opinions? Thoughts?

All in jest no beer bottles coming your way. I don't drink beer anyway.
LOL

Empty beer bottles coming my way?
