We used to have a fellow in our club several years ago who had guided many years in the Yellowstone area. In fly tying class, I asked him what his favorite fly was. He said, "Anything with peacock."

One of the simplest and easiest ties I've seen on a nymph is called a RED TAG. Standard Nymph hook , red yarn tail, peacock body and a small brown hackle collar. I've seen it work w/short and long shank hooks as well as tied tandem.
