Murf asked:
Which vise would you all suggest under $300 or preferably under
$200? I'd like to have such things as a bobbin cradle and be able
to setup my gallows tool. Ideas???? PLEASE?
Murf, what a HUGE can of worms you opened.
Needless to say I'm a Renzetti Traveler fan. Can't see why people
pay the big bucks for the higher-priced Renzetti's. I've only had
mine for something like 10-12 years (or whenever they first came
out), so I don't have any idea how long they will last yet.
I DO like the cam jaws better.
And then I look at all the other vises out their in that price range,
and even MUCH less expensive, and I think to myself, "Myself, they
all look well-built and hold hooks. So what difference does it make?"
The Griffin Mongoose and Odyssey vices and the Peak vise, both sold
by Byard, look like great vises. The Anvil Apex, although not a
rotary vise IS a great vise (I've tied on one).
So take your pick, buy your vise, and join the fray on the "What's
the best vise?" question. It seems like folks always say the best
vise is they one they have - otherwise, how could they justify
spending so much on something that is just a fancified set of locking
tweezers?
just wish my tying table was back home so I could start tying again.
Granddaughter's wedding was last night and if I'm lucky, my table
(used for the reception) will be back by Summer.
