I prefer the plain and cheap "English style"and put a piece of rubber or silicone tube over both jaws - no slip no abrasion
BTW, I have decided the only hackle pliers that I like are the teardrop (Tony uses fine sandpaper if memory serves to get them never to slip...how's that for memory Tony?).
