Ken,
I fished the Ischler Traun (Traun river in just outside of Bad Ischl) about
a year and a half ago. It is closer to Salzburg, but very doable (by
train) from Vienna. You can rent a rod, etc. in town at the Fly Fishing
Center (operated out of a hotel...very nice gentleman named Walter)...I can
get the contact info if you are interested.
Expect to pay for fishing anywhere you go. For example, on the Ischler
Traun there were two possible beats...one for about $60 US and the other
for almost $100. I took (on the recommendation of my wife) the more
expensive of the two. I had about 3 km to myself...great
water. Beautiful, CLEAN, lots of fish. The beat was about a 5 minute bike
ride from town...plenty of places to stay there, as well.
I can rustle up some more information if you would like...also I'll try to
find something that's a bit closer to Vienna (although you SHOULD go over
the the Salzburg area anyway).
I can also give you my recommended beer and sausage list...
Cheers,
Chris

Hi Everybody,
I have a business trip to Vienna in the first week of April. Of course I
want to see all of the great architecture, museums & culture.....but i'm
also curious about the fishing. Will it be worth it to bring along rod,
flies & waders?
Thanks,
Ken
