I went to
the hardware store a couple weeks back for the same thing and got a cheap 5-piece
hollow punch set. For less than US$3- I got a range of sizes- 1/8”, 3/16”, ¼”,
5/16” and 3/8”. When hitting the punch, make sure to have some pine or similar
material under the foam so as to not blunt it whilst still providing a solid
surface. The sizes would even allow for small popper heads to be made. Larger
sizes can surely be found, but in the cheap ones I only found this set. I can
send a pic out to anyone who wants to see one. Forget
trying to do it cheaper. For no more than a buck or two, you have a decent and
safe set that is perfect for the task. Reuven -----Original
Message----- OK,,,now
that Ive got the sheets glued together,,I need some ideas on cutting out the
cylinder shapes that are described in the Fly Tying magazine for cutting out
yellow- jacket bodies. I believe they were calling it the hammer fly????But I
do have the black, yellow, black, yellow and black all glued together and
dried,,ends up being about 1/2 thick. I was considering empty bullet
shells,,22cal, 38cal. and maybe 9mm. Any other ideas?? Thanks
for your time Ray |
