Jerry
I had that same thought when I read the post last night. I landed a really
nice trout yesterday on my T & T and I was so excited to share the news! It
was wonderful but so unlike me (I prefer saltwater fishing). I took along
one of Tony's Chili Peppers to try something different on these fish. When
I landed the trout I thought maybe I was getting better at this but now I
wonder if Murf was there giving me hand on his way to a better place.
It's a nice thought.
Warm Regards,
Deb

Subject: RE: [VFB] Our friend is gone.

I am stunned. Like others on the list, I signed on this morning
expecting to see the usual lighthearted banter and semi-informational stuff
of the list. I was excited about sharing my good news- snapping my
0-7 fishless trips with news of a good day and half in Jupiter.

The first post I read was about Murf's death. As others have said,
I felt like I had been punched in the gut. Murf was our resident wit.
His humor was without doubt his greatest contribution.
Like many others I also had several off list with Murf. He was that kind
of guy. Generous of heart and willing to share of his knowledge.

His sudden death is unfortunately reminiscent of another Murph (note
spelling)
who also died shortly and very unexpectedly after attending a gathering of
listers. (The Tuck Clave on the FF@ List- now known as the MurphClave on the
Tuck.)

Byard- a special acknowledgement to you. I know you will miss him as much
as his
family. You have lost a brother. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
The reason we are so touched is because you have created an extended family
known
as VFB. We genuinely care about each other, and I consider the list
family.

Others have reminded us of how quickly life can turn and to make the most
of each day. I, OTOH, will do what Jews do in the face of great sorrow.
Either pray or tell a story. :-)

A brief story-- Our 1st night Passover Seder occurred on Wednesday evening.
April 12th is our Rebecca's birthday. She would have been 24 if she were
still with us
on earth. It was also the "Yahrtzeit" of Diane's Dad- the annual
remembrance
of his death according to Hebrew Calendar (Lunar). So before lighting the
candles for the Passover observance, we lit a candle for Diane's Dad and a
birthday candle for Rebecca.

And we then stated a new Seder tradition. We invited all of those loved who
have
passed to come join our Seder. We simply called out there names. Fathers
and Mothers,
Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles, brothers and sisters and yes even Children.
What started
as the smallest Seder we have had in years (only 13) quickly became a full
scale banquet
as spirit after spirit joined our Seder and soon we had a 100 or more souls
from 4-5 past
and present generations sitting at our table.

>From now on, when ever I go fishing I am going to speak Murf and Murph's
names and invite them to join me. I am willing to bet you I catch more
fish,

JG
