Rene: To the best of my knowledge, the IM7 is a higher modulus than IM6. IM6 has been around for a long time, and many of the premium rod producers still continue to use IM6.
Neville Gang, For the upcomming trip to the striperhead I plan to assemble 2 new rods (8 wt or/and 9wt). They will be fished in salt for stripers - what a surprise <G> Here in Germany I didn't found a good source for materials therefore I plan to use a kit from Hook and Hackle. Now the Question. They offer kits (blanks) from IM6 and IM7. I know these IM 6/7/8/9 is kinda marketing stuff. Has anybody some more detailed informations? I guess the blanks are from Pac Bay.
