I have one fish that I had mounted several
years ago (1978) - a steelhead. The taxidermist removed the flesh and
returned it to me for eating. They do not cut the belly but instead cut basically along the lateral
line of the non-showing side. Beforehand, all measurements are taken, the skin
is dried (cured?) for several months and the body cavity filled with a styrofoam
block shaped as close to the original as possible. Finally, the skin & fins
etc are painted, varnished and glass eyes inserted. Neville |
