Rene:

In my view, first check with the blank manufacturer and find out what they
use or recommend, then tape the guides in the appropriate place based on the
manufacturer's suggestions. Following that, you can fine tune the placement
by stringing a line through the guides and then making individual
adjustments. You can even try test casting. You may have to make more
adjustments for multi-piece rods due to the ferrule positions.

The following ULR is a guide, however, Tony Spezio also recommends a chart
put out by Hook & Hackle that I cannot locate at the moment.

Subject: [VFB] Rod Building - Guide positioning

List,

To switch back to fishing: Has anybody any reference about placing
guides on a blank. In my opinion there must be differences for tip
action blanks and full flex blanks, even if they are of the same weight.

Any ideas?

Rene
