Buck up, redneck. We have -6 windchill and are covered in ice. Say you prayers
for the folks in OK and MO where tens of thousands are still without power. My
buddy is stuck in a cabin on the White near Bull Shoals. Tough break, can't
drive home to KS and has to fish a few days until the roads clear. There's a
saying that doesn't have to be used often: Ice and Ozarks don't mix.

Subject: [VFB] Bad, Bad Weather

Ice storm last night. All the live oaks are drooping like weeping willows.
Power off and on. 27 degrees right now. More freezing rain and much lower
temps forcast for this evening. This wouldn't bother most of you guys and gals
in the frozen north. You know how to deal with it, but most of us down here in
Central to Lower Texas, don't have a clue. 1 inch of snow puts a halt to all
traffic. Schools close. Then there's the ice, which is a killer. We only have
an ice storm about every 10 years, thank the Lord. However, the sun, what
little of it is coming through the clouds, has a solar effect on the dark
asphalt streets. They've all melted, and are dry. Forecast is for more of the
same through tomorrow, with Snow showers on Wednesday.

The saving grace for us is that this is MLK Day and most businesses and all
schools, colleges around us are closed. Can't go fishing, can't play golf, so,
it looks like TV, reading a Tony Hillerman tribal police novel and tying some
flies. Could be worse.
