You mean I am probably casting farther that I think when on the water??? Another thing that gives me the most casting trouble, but I guess it does for most folks, and that is a strong side wind.. Into or with the wind no problem.. and even with small flies in a side wind, I kinda side arm the rod, and it does OK, but I do get the "birds nests" landing a lot more often.. One more thing.. I have a weight forward line, but it is a cheap spool.. Are the high dollar lines actually slicker etc, and cast farther like the ads say??? Reason I need to cast a long way, is because when I'm working the bank in the boat, I catch a lot more fish if I'm 50 ft or more from the bank, so I don't spook the fish so easily..Thanks, Chuck

Chuck,

Mark your flyline at the house at your maximum casting distance.
You'll be surprised when you cast on the pond or lake.

Tony: Thanks.. .I'll give that a try... I think one problem also is that
in
the boat I have now, because it is a narrow jon boat, I have to cast
sitting
down, and now that I think about it, I can practice cast here at the house
farther than I can when I get out in the boat with these big or heavy
flies.. I hope to get a wider boat as soon as possible, but I can try the
upward thing in the mean time, Chuck
