Jonathan,

I live in SW Pennsylvania. Near Tarentum/New Kensington. For Deer Creek and Bull Creeks, I like Pheasant Tail Nymphs from 10-14's. I haven't used GRHE's much b/c of my confidence in the PTN's. Don't be afraid to add a bead to them either. My buddy also likes using a Red Tag/Dambuster. Both are the same pattern, the only difference is hook style. The Red Tag uses a standard nymph hook, the Dambuster uses a streamer hook. The tail is a short piece of red yarn, with peacock body and a turn or two of brownish hackle for a colar. Both can be found in The FlyTiers Manual by Mike Dawes. This is an old book and I picked that one as well as FlyTyers Companion up at the Greater Pittsburgh Outdoor Show a few years ago.

I went fishing at the pond at the entrance to Park Farms Industrial Park in Leechburg/Vandergrift (I think it matters to what side of the road you're on). I used a Treacle Parkin, which is a Red Tag with an orange tail instead of red, with good success on the bluegill in the pond. I probably brought 1/2 doz to hand in 30-45 minutes before I had to run to the daycare place and pick up my youngest. It looks like it's going to be a fun place to stop and relax before heading home this summer.

Catch me off list if you want to know more.

Hey all,
I was wondering, what are your favorite flies for stocked trout? Opening day is coming up here in SW PA and I'm getting my gear ready. I've got some of my favorites to tie up, but was looking to expend and try some new ones. The local stream I fish doesn't have many hatches and the ones it does have a very small. I do ok using worm patterns, but nothing has done well enough to be considered a "go to" fly. Thanks in advance.

Jonathan

Duct tape is like the Force. It has a light side & a dark side, and it holds the universe together.
