Peggy: I know it takes a lot to upkeep a lake or pond, cause I have a cpl
friends who have them.. You just won't catch Me giving $3.50 a pound (On the
hoof) LOL, to fish them, I can't afford it. It would be my luck that there
would be ONE 20 pound trout in there, and I'd catch it and owe the guy 70 bucks
LOL..Chuck

Now Chuck, I'll give you a little insite into pond ownership and stocking, we
have a 3/4 acre one out back, it's a great practice pond for kids, clubs or
trying new fly's.

However, the details are to stock costs about $ 3-7 per fish this year, the
$7 being for 14 inch rainbows. Then there is the weed triming, willow tree
removing, keeping birds that like fish away and taking care to keep the
bluegill population down. And the snapping turtles, of course they are also a
great moving target to get ready for bird season.....for this I took a course
in gun safety, hunter ed, bought a Remington, needed targets, you get the
picture. I guess I could average this out against my $286 pheasant I got in my
first bird season...

We are in New England and it's spring fed, so does stay pretty cool, but even
in the heat of summer the trout go down into the deeper holes....so to get more
of those we get a excavator, that's 6 dozen flies per hour or cash....you get
the picture..And remember that a stocked and fed trout has a different taste,
like the fish food and some of it has a liver base..yuk....

  But, it's all worth it!

Folks: We have a guy who opened a (stocked) trout pond here recently..I
will NOT be fishing there cause it is $3.50 a pound and you MUST keep (and buy)
all you catch.. Anyway, my question is.. How can these (rainbows) survive the
Summer here??? The water temp here in the lakes, ponds etc is already between
76-80 degrees. It has been 94-95 degrees for the past three days..Won't these
fish die??? Thanks, Chuck
