Rene,
Have you tied several flies of the same pattern and materials at the same
time, used one and it catches a lot of fish,. If it is lost and you take a
second one from the same batch and fish it at the same time as the first one,
no hits at all. Try a third one and it might work as good as the first one. The
question is"WHY".

  Hm....

If I look close in my materials, I observe that burned orange is not as
bright as the usual orange.

One or two years ago I fished with 2 different nymphs: One had a very
shiny, bright orange dubbed body (SLF). This nymph caught chub for me,
when I lost the nymph I switched to a nymph, where the body had a more
darker orange, not flashy hue. I caught imedeately 2 trout on this
pattern - lost it, and switched back to the brighter version. Caught chub.

Did anybody else ever observed such a selectivity of fish concerning the
hue of a pattern?

Rene
