On Behalf Of DonO Subject: Re: [VFB] Saturday's fishing Thanks, MArk.
For flyfishermen, wind is almost the ultimate enemy. DonO [ [Jerry Goldsmith] concerning DonO's comment. here is the 1st of 2 posts made to FF@ Well, at approx 11PM last night, Mark got a fish. If the purpose of his visit had been catching, this would have a wasted trip. Fortunately it was about connection and fellowship. Those were present in abundance. We have had a honkin' East Wind for several weeks. Unusual and has major negative effect on local fishery. The first trip we had scheduled involved Terry, Mark and I going to the launch on the St. John's river, getting out of the vehicles and then getting right back into the vehicles. We were not fishing there. Went to one of the 1,000 or small ponds near my house and got skunked. The next morning we were supposed to Tarpon fish. White caps on the Indian River Lagoon did in those plans. So we went to "Bass Pro Shops" and a delicatessen. Diane made the day with a delicious poached salmon with a dill cucumber sauce for dinner. Eric Young came to the rescue. We launched his boat at 9 PM last night and went in search of Tarpon and Sea Trout. No Tarpon, but GBH did indeed catch a sea trout. http://www.flickr.com/photos/shallowminded/sets/72157600277608534/ We also caught a few "look down". The water usually quite clear was muddy, muddy brown. We assume the constant wind has pushed everything up the estuary. Anyway, GBH did Australia proud. Really very nice man. Chris, Dave and NEC- you are in for a treat. (BTW-do not taste the vegemite :-) jg
