[VFB] 2wt flyrod

I've  been  thinking  about  getting a  2wt  flyrod  but  before  I  buy one or 
 build  one  I  was  wondering   if  they  become  just a  novelty   shortly  
after,  or  something  that  is  just  used  for  pan fish.  As  always  thanks
