If it's like the Bass Pro in KC that my buddy works
at, they can generally get you outside with some rods
to cast. If you get to casting a good rod with quality
line, it will blow your mind. Good doesn't mean
expensive either. I have 2 Orvis rods that cast like
broomsticks and rarely get fished. My wife has a $50
Cabelas Three Forks rod that feels far better in my
hand than the Orvis. You could buy one of those Three
Forks sight unseen and be happy with it, a very good
value.
