I don't really take the 8wt anymore but I may have to try it again just for fun. :-) I haven't seen anyone catch a Permit on one of our trips but we are getting more of your residents up here lately with the warmer waters. Last year we even had a Manatee here. He was a little confused. It sure sounds like fun though!!! :-) Thanks for sharing. Deb [ We have a great 6-7 month season where Juvi's to 40-50lbs are almost always present. Hit Google earth and look for the Sebastian River on the east coast of Florida. Both the north and south forks hold these fish for months. The rod of choice is a 7 or 8 wt with dark clousers. I have a great picture of me fighting one of these fish on an 8'8" 7wt Scott Heliply. It was my screen saver for a long time. (I was going to send it to you, but I cannot find it. Where do old screen savers go to die ?? Unless we are chasing the 100+ lb'rs on the beaches on either coast, or the real Giants in Homosassa or the keys, the biggest rod is generally a 10wt.
